How it all started...

Like many businesses, Designer Glass Overlay started as something else. DGO was originally called Samuel K Designer Windows, founded by an enterprising gentleman by the name of Sam Kamber.

Storefronts first...

Sam originally focused on retail businesses, particularly high-end merchants with storefronts that benefited from compelling graphics. Sam developed a system that included superior quality films, precision cut in a shop environment, layered and combined to refract light as desired, and then field-applied to produce dramatic storefront graphics.

Then, residential windows...

Sam had a bevy of satisfied, loyal business clients that loved his work and the results it produced. One of them had a “problem” window in his home (a bathroom window), and asked Sam to design a window for his home. The client was delighted with the result, and asked Sam to produce additional designer windows for the sidelights in his entryway.

This same client was about to exhibit at a local Home Show, and liked Sam’s product so much for residential use that he offered Sam a small portion of his trade show booth to show his wares. The response from homeowners at that show was so positive that the residential market became Samuel K Designer Windows main focus from that point forward.

One satisfied customer followed another, and today our windows and our clients are found throughout the United States.
